Focus on Bihar – Jamui district
Bamdah Mission Hospital has been providing ophthalmic care to the poor for 130 years.
This makes it unique in the whole of north India. An excellent example of sustainability.
We have been working closely with Bamdah throughout our 25 years.
For the people of this tribal area the hospital is a haven, especially when it comes to the care of their precious children. Take a few moments to watch the slideshow below - pictures by Jenny Matthews.
Today’s staff are mostly from the local Santhal tribal community
This is one of the few hospitals in the whole of Bihar which offers paediatric ophthalmic surgery entirely free of cost.
